Being Prepared and Planning Retirement

Being prepared – Isn’t just about gathering supplies, and stocking up on water to survive a future disaster.  Being prepared is also about putting money aside for you and the future of the next generation. This video gives a story explaining the looming disaster of our retirement system. It explains the disaster we are creating for future generations.

As I get older, I look forward to retirement but I may have to work until I’m in my 70’s. That just sounds ridiculous to me. I don’t want to be 70 and still have to work a full-time job. As I dig deeper in preparing, I realize that I am not doing enough to protect my children’s future.  This video indicates that we have not been saving like we should and our children will suffer because it.  They may not be able to retire.

Personally, I am going to be alright and I’m prepared to live my life on a very tight budget. But, I don’t have a savings account for my children. It is a tough decision to decide where to put the little money that I do have. Because I don’t trust the manipulation of Stock Exchange. I refuse to throw money in it only to have it taken away from me during the next economic collapse.  Placing money in the banks are not an option due to the very low interest rate given to us to park our money in a bank.  One to three percent interest is not a good trade off. So, as I pay off a bill, I will take that amount of money and invest it in secure options with hope that it will become their emergency fund. Unfortunately, there are no fail proof options.

Take a look at this video Broken Eggs: The Looming Retirement Crisis in America. It’s a bit depressing but a good lesson to learn. Let’s educate our children about saving and become a part of the solution.
